Workshop Objectives
Invited leaders from academic, government, philanthropic, and business organizations will present, discuss, and analyze elements of effective leadership at all levels. Workshop sessions will:
- Examine pathways of leaders from URG groups to identify overlapping characteristics
- Explore programs to provide educational experiences to increase people from URG groups in leadership positions
- Identify programs and activities to incentivize institutional changes such as hiring and/or cultivating people from URGs for leadership positions
- Discuss the value of STEM careers while advocating for diversity, equality, and inclusivity
- Propose policies and practices to ensure a national focus on preparing students for responsible leadership roles in an increasingly technological and diverse world
